Job Description:

The bindery operator assistant is responsible to assist Cutter, Folder or Stitcher operators as needed according to Quality System Procedures and Work Instructions.

JOB DUTIES

Improve equipment productivity by assisting equipment operators as follows:

-Supply stock to one or both cutters from jogging table

-Box or skid pack product as it leaves folder

-Feeding pocket or take off on stitcher and carton

-Material handle to prepare jobs for the operator

Accurately record shop floor data entries in a timely and accurate manner.

Deliver completed project to next operation.

Work with operator to maintain established checkpoints and procedures throughout run.

Assistant in performance of routine preventative maintenance as required.

Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Education, GED or equivalent.

Some knowledge of finishing techniques used in offset printing to produce finished printed materials preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Basic computer skills; knowledge of keyboard functions.

MATH SKILLS

Basic skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write and speak in the English language to the extent necessary to effectively communicate or interpret instruction.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic written or oral instructions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Employee may work near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.

Ability to work overtime including weekends.

Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 of pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to occasionally lift/carry 20 to 50 pounds, frequently lift/carry 10-20 pounds with frequent reaching and standing.
